Bruce Lee bio

Shannon Lee is the daughter of the martial arts legend - Bruce Lee. She is an actress and singer, as well as the president of Bruce Lee Enterprises. Shannon Lee tells Doretta Lau from HK Magazine about preserving his father's legacy. I was born in Santa Monica, California in 1969. My family and I moved to Hong Kong when I was two years old. I remember that my father was very funny and energetic. He liked to play with us, children. He was a warm, loving father.

I have some flashes of his image in my head ... surrounded by a very strong sense of his energy. There are two of his films that I really love. "The Way of the Dragon", the film he wrote, directed, choreographed and produced. It's just him. It shows his sense of humor, his martial arts skills and his directing skills.

But I also really love "Enter the dragon" because I love to hear his voice, all other movies are dubbed. I am grateful for my father's collective memory, because many people who have lost their parents at an early age do not have as much as I have for the writings and film material and the things he left behind.

A year after my father's death, we settled in Palos Verdes, Los Angeles. This is the place where I grew up. I was ashamed of martial arts when I was a child. I was overwhelmed by who my father was. I had to wait for my own time to come. I was 19 or 20 at the time.

I trained Jeet Kune Do. My sifu (teacher) was Ted Wong, who was a father's student. He taught me in his backyard, just like my father liked to do. I also trained taekwondo, wushu and kickboxing.

This is ridiculous. When I was younger, I wanted to be a lawyer. In my first job, I was a hostess in the Olive Garden restaurant chain. It was my duty to clean the bathroom as well. In the end, I studied vocal and musical skills in New Orleans and became a classically trained singer. And I sang "California Dreamin," in "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story," also a guest appearance in this film. I was my brother's personal assistant on the movie "Rapid Fire." I remember when I said I was thinking about acting and he told me that I should do it only if I really love it. I was almost 24 when my brother died. It was very traumatic. My brother protected me, he was my mentor.

I always felt with Brandon that we have something we do not share with others. This father and this mother. Playing in movies when I was twenty was fun, but I think it's also very nervous. It simply was not "grounded" I sang with Sam Hui in Hong Kong several times. He asked me if I would like to sing with him on stage with him on a return concert in 2004. I thought, why not ?! Motherhood is wonderful. My daughter, Wren, is seven years old. I am really grateful for her presence in my life because she helped me get to know myself better.

I work a lot for my father now. I run Bruce Lee Enterprises, which is a licensing company. Universal Studios had the exclusive right to goods with the similarity of Bruce Lee. I bought this right in 2008 . The Bruce Lee Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate and preserve and preserve the heritage of my father. We started to make information programs for children, teaching about Bruce Lee and who Bruce Lee was, inspiring children to pursue their own dreams.

My life is subjected to constant changes that I like. My father always said, "To change with change is the changeless state." This is my time to do something that will last in my life. Bring my father back to the audience.
